Nurture Nature Forest School CIC runs a number of different sessions for families of all ages. Forest School research suggests that teaching children from a young age to engage with the outside world can make them more resilient, have greater self-esteem and become more engaged learners. We use local parks and these are subject to restricted activities.
Outdoor parent and baby/toddler sessions. Give your little ones the chance to explore the outdoor setting using all their senses and engage in stories and forest school activities. For the grown-ups, it’s a chance to have a hot drink and a natter in a safe and welcoming environment. Suitable for all children under the age of 5.
Activities include: den building, exploring the natural environment and learning to safely light fires.
Alongside these activities, we practice fine motor skills through knot tying and using hand tools, literacy through reading stories, maths through sorting sticks for fire making and science through exploring flora and fauna and learning the science of fire making.
Sessions take place on a rolling six week schedule, where the skills learnt increase over the six weeks. Each session is approximately one hour long and includes cooking a snack on the campfire.
Home-education sessions are aimed at families whose children are educated outside of school.
We provide fully inclusive Forest School sessions and tailor them for the individuals attending. Activities include: Den Building, Tool Use, Exploring the Natural Environment and learning to safely Light Fires. Due to the varied age ranges that attend, there are always plenty of extension activities for each session to ensure that each child achieves their own outcomes at their own speed.
We run a series of Holiday Clubs throughout the school holidays. Some are funded and others incur a small cost.
Check out our social media pages to keep up to date on what is on offer.
We believe that Forest School is fully inclusive. However, we acknowledge that some families and children get more out of an experience if they are joining in with other SEND families.
With this is mind we have designed some SEND specific Forest School sessions. These will include all the normal Forest School activities with some added elements:
