Forest School is an inspiring process, a specialised approach to outdoor learning that aims to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning in a woodland environment or Urban Forest School where the natural materials are brought in.
Our schools package is tailored for each school dependent on age group, type of activities, outcomes and frequency of the sessions. We can provide anything from a one-off session on fire making and safety to a full 6-7 week Forest School programme.
The advantages gained by educating children outdoors are endless: physical and mental health benefits, social benefits, risk awareness, and benefits to their general behaviour. Forest School can also help develop skills in other areas: social, physical and intellectual development, language and linguistic skills, emotional development and building self-confidence.
Primary school children especially seem to thrive in a woodland setting. They are still young enough to enjoy games and stories but are also able to develop practical skills and take on greater levels of responsibility.
Key Stage 1 & 2
Sessions can be curriculum linked in order to enhance themes and attainment levels.
Activities include co-operative tasks, problem-solving games, as well as traditional forest school activities. To see the true progression of skills and to teach safe tool use and firelighting a full block must be booked. These sessions can be adapted for SEND needs, behavioural support and attendance issues.
Key Stage 3 & 4
These forest school programmes are designed to build confidence, self esteem and resilience. They can also be adapted for SEND needs, behavioural support and attendance issues.
